Surprise visit from Miss Navajo Nation Shaandiin P. Parrish

June 7, 2021

Lake Valley Chapter; Lake Valley, NM. A black SUV with tinted windows drives pass the stoned gate and parks in front of the Chapter. Who is that? The President of the United States or the President of the Navajo Nation?

Then out step an enchanting woman in a Navajo traditional purple outfit wearing her mask. We could still see her eyes that she is smiling ear to ear.  Her bodyguard follows behind her as they came to the door where they are welcomed by the administrative staff.

Miss Navajo introduces herself and states that she is visiting chapters to provide information about the upcoming Miss Navajo Nation Pageant.  She has in her hands two posters – the first poster is about the Pageant and the second is her poster. She sits down to personalize the poster to Lake Valley Chapter.

Moments later, Chapter Secretary/Treasurer, walks into the Chapter amazed to see Miss Navajo. They begin to talk about roots and history. That is when Miss Navajo began admiring all the beautiful rugs and banners that the community members woven and sewed for the Officials throughout the years. She was impressed with all the talents on displayed.

They were offered supplies and refreshments before they began their journey home.

Thank you, Miss Navajo Nation, for stopping by the Chapter. We appreciate you. Stay safe.
