CHAPTER STUDENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The purpose of the Chapter Student Financial Assistance Program (CSFAP) is to help pay the cost of necessary expenses while attending a College, University, or Vocational Institution.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Applicant must be pursing an Associate degree, Applied Associates of Science, Bachelor’s degree, Master Degree, Doctoral Degree, or a vocational certificate.
- Applicant must be registered with Lake Valley Chapter, at least six months prior. Applicant under 18 years old, parents must by registered with Lake Valley Chapter, at least six months prior. Applicant can only be assisted from one chapter.
- All applicants must submit the following required documents: Chapter application (online/hardcopy); Letter of Admission (incoming freshman) or Enrollment Verification (continuing student); Class Schedule; Navajo Nation Voter’s Registration; Certificate of Indian Blood; and Unofficial Transcript.
- Applicant earning 11 or less credit hours per academic semester will be awarded as a Part-time student. Applicant earning 12 or more credit hours per academic semester will be awarded as a Full-time student.
- Applicants have the opportunity to submit their required document electronically to avoid extra expenditure to submit documents in-person while attending educational pursues, employment, etc. Documents may be submitted electronically to the Lake Valley Chapter’s email. PDF format will only be accepted.
- All applicants must submit all required documents with the most current dates to the Chapter Administration by the following deadlines, no exception:
- FALL SEMESTER: July 31st | SPRING SEMESTER: December 31st | The deadline will revert to the last business day before the deadline if either date falls on the weekend.

HOUSING DISCRETIONARY FUNDS PROGRAM
The purpose of the Housing Discretionary Funds Program is provide eligible Chapter membership with housing assistance in the form of minor repair, major repair, renovation, addition, electrical wiring, and new construction cost.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Applicant must be registered with Lake Valley Chapter, at least (1) one year prior.
- Applicant must be able to prove home ownership by title or lease.
- Applicant must be able to prove the home is the primary residence of the applicant.
- Applicant must be able to prove the home is in need of renovation, repair, or improvement.
- Applicant must submit completed checklist of the required documents and application on the deadline indicated by Chapter Administration.
- Deadline will be the Friday before the monthly Planning Meeting to be reviewed by the Chapter Administration.

PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
The purpose of the Public Employment Project is to provide short-term employment for chapter residents to work on prioritized chapter projects, reduce the unemployment rate at the chapter and Navajo Nation level; and provide on-the-job training to selected chapter residents so they may obtain permanent employment with non-chapter employers.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Applicant must be registered with Lake Valley Chapter and not employed by another chapter.
- Community Youth (non-registered voters) participants between the ages of sixteen (16) and eighteen (18) are eligible but the following conditions shall be met: child labor laws of NM are complied with, parental consent, no work related travel, youth are under close supervision at all times and do not work in hazardous occuptions, and NOSHA have assured that the working conditions and enviroment are safe.

SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
The purpose of the Summer Youth Employment Program is to provide development and guidance to the youth of Lake Valley.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Applicant must be a member of the Navajo Nation with a census number between the ages of 14 to 24 years that are returning within six (6) months to high school/college/university/vocational/technical institution; unemployed at the time of applying; in good standing with the school; and a legal resident of the state.
- Applicant must be registered with Lake Valley Chapter, at least six months prior. Applicant under 18 years old, parents or guardians must be registered with Lake Valley Chapter, at least six months prior.
- All applicants must submit the following required documents: Chapter application (online/hardcopy); Letter of Interest that describes career goals; Enrollment Verification to show the applicant will be returning to school within six (6) of applying; copies of CIB/SSN; and consent form (if under 18 years of age).
- Applicant ages from 14-17 may work up to 32 hours per week and shall not perform duties which specialize skills or certification.
- Applicant ages from 18-24 may work up to 40 hours per week.
- Two applicants from one household cannot be employed in the same phase. They can be separated in employment phase 1/2/3/4 (depending on the amount of applicants applied and the phases generated).
- Enrichment activities for students in high school, college, vocational, and technical institutions involves activities that broaden the learning experience, promote a higher level of thinking, provide exposure to additional subject areas, and provide a more in-depth exposure to the regular curriculum or supplementary materials beyond the normal range of resources. The minimum award shall be $250.00.
